You’ll never find a rainbow if you’re looking down.
Charlie Chaplin
Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself.
Charlie Chaplin
Charlie Chaplin was a British-born actor who became famous in the early 1900’s. A series of exceedingly difficult family misfortunes caused Charlie to be sent to a work house for the poor while only seven years old. He developed a passion for acting at a young age while his parents were music hall entertainers.
He worked his way up playing bit parts and performing in vaudeville, until he was hired by Keystone Studios while on tour in America. Chaplin brought such fresh, comedic energy to film that it wasn’t long before he was directing and starring in highly successful films.
His best known character was The Tramp, which became a global phenomenon. In 1972, after 20 years of exile from the US, Chaplin returned to receive an Honorary Academy Award.
