The Secret of Maximum Potential

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

You’ve Got Potential

We all want to reach our full potential, if we only knew what that was. It’s a common phrase, ‘maximum potential’, but who can say exactly what reaching that looks like?

Only you,

and in order to see, hear and understand that answer clearly enough you will need to spend time getting to know yourself. Since you were born, you’ve been encouraged to look outward, for nourishment, for love, and for connection. Emerson knew, as many wise leaders know, that the true source for these things exists within. Tap into that and you will begin the journey to fulfilling your greatest potential.

Warm Yourself By An Inner Fire

Discover your potential, deserve to win, dare to choose… cultivate the desire that provides inner fire.

Denis Waitley, Deborah Waitley, Dayna Waitley, The Psychology of Winning For Women

The idea of what lies behind you or before you doesn’t just mean your literal past and future. It’s also talking about all the ideas you’ve collected about yourself along the way and how you’ve projected them forward.

If you have ideas about yourself that say your potential is limited, or that you shouldn’t really try, it will be essential for you to make a clear choice to “deserve to win.”

If you begin with the idea of achieving your maximum potential it may be easy to become discouraged – the goal may appear too big. Instead, think of this process as a doorway into a room. The room is dark and large, and contains rich treasures. It isn’t helpful to turn on a floodlight, that would be blinding. Try just lighting a match and take a single, small step into the room. Make friends with what you find there before moving on. This will allow your capacity for new discoveries to strengthen, which builds your confidence for each successive step.

Shine On

It is evident, therefore, that all we have to do is let our light shine; the more energy we can radiate, the more rapidly shall we be enabled to transmute undesirable conditions into sources of pleasure and profit.

Charles F. Haanel

As you spend more energy exploring your inner world, you will be rewarded by an increase in your own personal strength. Even though not all of the things you find there will seem to be beautiful, they all hold a gift. Invest in knowing yourself better and even the ‘unpretty’ things you find within will be transformed into “sources of pleasure and profit.”
