We cannot express powers that we do not possess. The only way by which we may secure possession of power is to become conscious of power, and we can never become conscious of power until we learn that all power is within.

Charles F. Haanel

What Is Empowerment?

“The giving of an ability, enablement, or permission” is how it is defined by the dictionary. The term has been used to discuss management strategies, self-help programs, and political positions. It has been seen as New-Agey, trendy and difficult to qualify. In a nutshell,

an ephemeral attribute of the human experience.

It can’t be bought, sold, or stolen, although those actions may lead to an increase or decrease of a person’s sense of empowerment. It is the essential medium through which we make things happen. The conventional approach is to seek it from some authority. Today, decide to seek it from within.

One Size Does Not Fit All

A girl should be two things: who and what she wants.

Coco Chanel

What constitutes empowerment for me may not be the same for you. That’s one of its best features. In order to achieve true empowerment – in the sense of having permission to be who it is you are here to be – it requires that you learn who, what, and why you are. This means listening to yourself, believing what you hear, and choosing to take one step at a time to turn it into reality.

Imagine your world peopled by engaged, passionate, committed, authentic individuals living out a purpose formed by empathy and compassion. Now, imagine that you are one of them.

Steer Clear of Average

If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.

Maya Angelou

It’s in our nature to want to fit in, to be liked, and to belong. The trick is to first be yourself, and then, find those who respect you for who you are. Because ultimately, you will answer to yourself.  Knowing your purpose fuels your ability to express your amazing and unique self.

Set aside a good amount of time where you can be alone and complete this exercise. It is the beginning to seeing how amazing you already are.
